Aravot.am asked the well-known historian Richard Hovhannisian about his impressions as a historian from the Vienna meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and his projections in the context of recent developments. “I am not interested in the politics, but I do think that we should make every effort with peace for solving the complex problems, we also need to know that we should rely on our forces, find reliable friends who will be confident that our existence, our need, and the improvement should be thru them too,” – said Mr. Hovhannisian.
He refrained from making predictions and just advised to learn lessons from the history, “I do not want to be involved in the politics, I am a historian and I deal with the past, I just want to say that there are many lessons to learn from the past… Some mistakes were made during the First Republic, also by the leadership. I do not blame them but by their limited understanding, a little naïve belief in foreign states will bring no benefit to us in the end.”
