Recently, I read in some place that the installation of Garegin Nzhdeh’s statue allegedly perturbed some Russian circles. To be honest, I think it is a little illogical because it has long been known that Nzhdeh is the “Lenin” of the 21-year ruling or at least the party constituting the part of the government. It’s true that he, the real hero of our nation, is not guilty of it, he has served the people honestly, displaying zero conformism but by the irony of fate he had appeared on the flag of modern conformists. Opportune, Nzhdeh’s views were anti-Bolshevik but not anti-Russian. In all cases, it is not that we do not have statues to Nzhdeh and other “objects.”
Hence, calling the installation of the statue to our national hero a “demarche against Russia” is a bigger exaggeration. It is another matter that now the official campaign in Russia (and in such countries, the campaign is almost exclusively official) has deviated against Armenia and obtains approximately the following nuances, “Who are you to complain about our business with Azerbaijan on weapons and in general, about our posture on the Karabakh conflict. Pretty soon, we will organize a new attack of Azerbaijan on Artsakh, then you will know what is what. And then, have you forgotten that there are two million Armenians in Russia, now you will see what will happen to them.” In short, it is very likely that the history of “woman’s dressing gown” and the official “journalist’s” interpretation will recur. Or, there will be officials who would allow themselves to make remarks against Armenians tougher than Rogozin.
It is very likely that Russia will involve one or several super pro-Russian party (more pro-Russian than RPA) in this game, who will protect the above-mentioned campaign nuances, and even if they do not come to power, they will have significant representation in the future parliament. The main thesis of such forces will be: “any criticism against Russia is an order of the government, which is targeted at a deviation of attention.”
I do not know, it is their games, maybe RPA will also find some ways to bow in front of Russia. Like in other matters, here too, I am against extremism and emotional reactions. To specifically exacerbate relations with Russia, currently giving up the existing, albeit bad security system is stupidity. To cherish some hopes with Russia by “fraternal love” motivations is not realistic either. Similarly, of course, all the remaining countries in the world should be treated: without hatred but also without excessive enthusiasm.

Alternatives must be sought to all kind of monopolies of Russia. But it must be done slowly, solid, without scandals, without debating with blackmailers and without “slobbers” as said by Rogozin. Sooner or later, the government of Armenia and the major forces will feel the need for it.
