On June 1, Okean Elzy’s concert at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex started in one hour late. After the beginning of the concert, the soloist of the band Svyatoslav Vakarchuk explained that the reason was the traffic jam, and eventually, they had to get to the place on foot. Incidentally, the concert was also attended by Jivan Gasparyan. Earlier, in a press conference, Vakarchuk had said about him, “I would like to cooperate with Jivan Gasparyan again. We love him very much, and we are looking forward to meeting him here. But, I was told that Jivan Gasparyan is in the United States now, therefore our meeting did not happen.
” After an hour of waiting, after the performance of the first song, Jivan Gasparyan left the concert hall. At the SCC, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk told a story that there is a child in Paris who is seriously ill, who is very fond of their songs, and they could not meet this child during their concert in France.
“His mother is here,” – he said, adding that he has talked to the child thru the mother, who speaks only French and Armenian, she is an Armenian descent. The child’s mother had donated a scarf to Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, which was tied around the microphone at the concert yesterday. It was written on the scarf in English: your songs are like a prayer for me. The fans, some of who were holding the Ukrainian flag, were very warmly accepting the performances of the new album of Okean Elzy. But the whole audience was singing when the famous hits of the band were played. After the concert, Okean Elzy was returned to the stage four times with applauses.
