“I think that in the coming days, there will be some events in Turkey and steps will be taken with the adoption of the resolution in the Bundestag on recognition of the Armenian Genocide,” – said founding member of the Green Party and the Leftwing, Ufuk Uras, on June 3 at the meeting with the journalists.
He noted that the Turkish media has covered the events very negatively, “If we look at the decision by the Bundestag, then we can see than not the people but the regime is criticized. In other words, I think it is wrong to argue that the adoption of the resolution on recognition of the Genocide is directed against any nation. We want Turkey to have a good future, those who live in Turkey, the Turkish people, including Armenians, have a good future. We rely not on the policy of hatred but on love and respect.”
According to Ufuk Uras, the Armenian Genocide cannot be a common event as the Turkish Prime Minister claimed, “I think, therewith, Germany adopts its complicity in the Genocide, and this step can quicken Turkey to face the reality. I hope that with the future developments when Erdoğan-Putin relations will be normalized, it will also contribute to the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia.”
