“I do not think that the Vicar of the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople has a pronounced anti-Armenian approach. Bear in mind that the patriarchate is located in Turkey and functions by the permission of the Turkish authorities and it somehow constrained. This statement could be due to this fact,” – said the expert for the international laws, Vladimir Vardanyan, at the press hall of “Armenpress” news agency, on June 15, referring to the letter to Erdoğan by the Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate, Archbishop T. Aram Ateshyan.
He noted that the status of Armenians as citizens of Turkey is somewhat constrained and it must be considered when hearing this kind of any speech, “Such persons have a defect of will and cannot express what they think.”
