WikiLeaks identified that a part of the machine guns imported from Bulgaria to Armenia had appeared in Iraq.” Andrias Ghukasyan

Political analyst Andrias Ghukasyan was surprised at the news of exporting arms and ammunition from Armenia to Congo.

“It is not known what weapons we are talking about, how many they are, for what purpose was the deal concluded and what the state has benefited from this transaction. All this would be possible to interpret if the public learns more about this transaction. At this point, one can only be surprised that Armenia is a seller at the international arms market although it does not produce weapons but concludes such transactions. In connection with this, I can recall the case revealed by WikiLeaks when a part of the machine guns imported from Bulgaria to Armenia had appeared in Iraq and Iraq had submitted a note to Armenia pertaining to this. This shows that there are many things that the public is simply unaware of the army, the allegations that steps have been taken today and the army is under the civilian control, apparently, are not true if we are saddened by such news,”- said Andrias Ghukasyan.

Deputy Chairman of “Heritage” party Armen Martirosyan explained that the matter is about the arms sales worth of USD 1.5 million and this number is not a number for the arms sale, “Let’s not forget that we have some production, if I am not mistaken, a production gun machines as well as bullets, they may export it too. The only problem that could arise is that if Congo were under the international restrictions and an embargo was imposed on the sale of the arms and Armenia had violated the sanctions. But this is not the case.”
