How to avoid becoming a zombie?

June 20,2016 13:45

On June 18 and 19, the American University of Armenia hosted “BarCamp 2016” (un) conference. In the agenda, the theme selected by the Information Security Analyst Samvel Martirosyan singled out from numerous other themes, which he presented at the “BarCamp 2016” entitled “How to avoid becoming a zombie.”

Who are the zombies?

Samvel Martirosyan, first of all, touched upon the history of zombies, “When I was a middle-aged, the issue of zombies was not raised so serious before people: movies were screened, books were written at times, but the movies were mainly about traditional zombies who were awakened from the tomb with the help of voodoo. Traditionally, the true zombie is the dead awakened from the grave who is awakened for one purpose to do a work at home. But times have changed and in the 60s and 70s, zombies were rather perceived as a punishment. At that time, it was not clear from the movies who the zombies are and why they came, mostly a slight visible religious explanation was given: they were bad, therefore zombies have come out, it is for our sins. But now, the situation has been changed seriously, if we look around, a huge amount of materials are written and films are screened about zombies. Actually, there is a great interest in zombies that was not noticed earlier, in other words, soap operas are filmed, commixes, books, etc.”

Which are the tools?

Samvel Martirosyan noted that the main tool by which they zombie is the media, “20-30 years ago, it was the television, before that – the radio and the newspapers. The media, in fact, is more diverse, for example, in the Middle Ages, the church preach was used as a media, especially for the Catholic Church, it was quite a serious tool. The preaches were mainly made targeted.”

Who are the modern zombies?

Samvel Martirosyan explained, “Now, we all “piss around” each other.” Each one has a private printing house which was forbidden in the past, each one has its own church where he invites people to the Sunday preach, to the point, 24-hours, and each one has the possibility to “piss around” the other.”

“It is actually a poisoning of information because the information that we consume, the humanity has never consumed so much information, and psychologically was unable. We have appeared in a state of crisis and this situation will not be improved for at least in the next decade, in other words, it will increasingly worsen. The news feed will gradually grow, and the time comes when it is necessary to think about yoga but not yoga as a diet as it is perceived now. Ancient Indians had this problem, it was a little different, they were disgusted with this world rather than with the Internet. They believed that the Maya that hides the real world hampers, and the average Indian man takes up his duty to plant a tree, build a house, have a son and then leave for the cave and possibly disconnect himself from the world, and the meaning of actual yoga had a no secular character. People were trying to work with their senses to be able to filter what comes from the outside world. It seems to me that we are entering an era that to avoid a man go mad and become a zombie, he should begin working independently on these information flows and practice yoga but contemporary, and try to look for own methods where it is possible to digest the information. Because if you are a passive viewer, one way or the other, you begin poisoning yourself, there is no other option,” said Samvel Martirosyan.
