As estimated by theologist Vardan Khachatryan, the Pope’s visit to Armenia is not accidental, especially since it was followed by the meeting with the archpastor of the Russian Orthodox Church. “A meeting was held in Cuba between the Pope and the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, and to the surprise of the whole world, there were names voiced that as a result of the destruction of Christians in the Middle East, this-or-that highest rank clergymen were killed and some of them are in the hands of unknown terrorists,” – said the theologist, noting that the Pope’s involvement in raising the issue of the genocides is excessively high. “The Pope’s visit to Armenia was also due to the use of the possible potential of the Armenian people in raising the issue of the genocides. He also said that there was a genocide, we understood it but not only the Armenian people were exposed to Genocide in Turkey, genocide was perpetrated against many ethnic minorities and not only Christian but only one managed to stop the problem at full length, only one managed to relatively receive positive solution on some matters: world opinion, suggestion, etc. and this one is the Armenian people.”
According to the theologist, the April war is the reflection of the situation in the Middle East, “During this war, we saw that the methods of conduct and the project implementation methodology were taken not from the logic of the previous hostilities, which was between RA and NKR-Azerbaijan but due to what happened in the Middle East and how people were beheaded and how it is possible to imagine a whole village feasts a whole night for beheading a soldier, we need to estimate the seriousness of it and create such an opportunity that will enable the world to respond to it.”
Vardan Khachatryan also commented on the Crusade psychology attributed to the pope by Turkey, “It’s both the fault of our and the West because they represent the crusade as unclear aggressive actions of the Christian world against Islam, forgetting that the access of this savage Turkish mass to the region underlies in the basis of all this, which has caused so much damage to the same Islam as to us.”
