Armenian and Georgian experts touched upon the role the European integration has played in promoting reforms in different fields

Оn July 2, 2016, the Political Science Association of Armenia (PSAA) and the Georgian Center for Social Sciences (CSS) within the program “European Integration: Armenian and Georgian Persectives” organized joint Armenian-Gerogian conference at the “Arthurs Aghveran Resort” hotel. The project is implemented through the financial support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Representation in Armenia.

The event was attended by the members of the Political Science Association of Armenia and the Georgian Center for Social Sciences, experts in regional security dynamics, students from Armenia and Georgia. Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Chairman of the Political Science Association of Armenia, Doctor of Political Science, Professor Hayk Kotanjian, the Administrative Director of the Georgian Center for Social Sciences Diana Lezhava, and the Head of the Representation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Armenia Naira Gevorgyan.

During the conference Armenian and Georgian experts touched upon the role the European integration has played in promoting reforms in different fields. The regional security dynamics with its implications on the perspectives of the European integration of Armenia and Georgia was also analyzed. An effective exchange of ideas took place about the questions discussed.

Concluding the event, the Executive Director of the Political Science Association of Armenia Dr. Beniamin Poghosyan expressed his gratitude to the Georgian Center for Social Sciences and the Representation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Armenia for the fruitful cooperation of the last three years and mentioned that the Political Science Association of Armenia will continue to be focused on different issues of Armenian-Georgian relations.

At the end of the conference working groups were formed from Armenian and Georgian students, which from July to September under the academic supervision of the experts must develop papers on the issues of the European integration of Armenia and Georgia and present it in mid-October  at the second conference to be held in Georgia.

The participants of the event emphasized the importance of the conference and underlined the high level of its organization.
