Yet again about “own game”

July 13,2016 11:49

“Trolling” is an interesting thing; I am just beginning to understand the meaning of it. Suppose, I am writing on the theme of the parliament, and all of a sudden, people under a pen-name pop-up in the comments and begin cursing a private university. Or, Azerbaijanis who call on us to “abandon their lands.” Or, people having opposition mindset, who think that the entire meaning of the article was the fact that I am urging “these authorities” to tolerate.

Recently, I had expressed my opinion that there is no need to discuss day and night who of the officials of foreign states has said something about us. In other words, Armenia and the Armenian nation must have its own goals, its own line, which it should lead, irrespective of who is saying what. Whereas one of the commentators “understood” it that I am reluctant for the ministries of Armenia to consider the requirements of our citizens.

It makes no sense, of course, to fight against “trolling”, it is all the same, everyone understands what he wants to understand. People want to talk about what they are concerned about, and the content of my or any other author’s writing has nothing to do, it is just an excuse to reproduce own thoughts. But since the issue of leading “own line” by the state and the issue of not concentrating on the words of the representatives of other countries is highly topical for Armenia, as I think, I will bring an example.

The example may be is somewhat tormented and refers to not so friendly country for us but nevertheless, it is instructive. In 2009-2014, the militarized settlements founded by Israel in the West Bank of Jordan River and East Jerusalem where the Arabs make the majority, have grown and expanded by 23 percent. Approximately half a million Jewish are living there and the settlements are guarded by thousands of Israeli soldiers. Almost daily bloody clashes persist for years. Only from last October up to the day, 214 Palestinians and 34 Israelis and citizens of several other countries were killed.

The “international community” obviously does not like this situation. The United States, European Union and international organizations are urging to stop the construction and inhabiting these settlements, but Prime Minister Netanyahu declares, ” We’re familiar with the American position; we don’t accept it. Building in Jerusalem and Ma’aleh Adumim is not, with all due respect, distancing peace.” That’s all, very simple and precise. It seems to me that the US does not cease after all being Israel’s ally and sponsor.

… Recently, I read somewhere: you can achieve a lot in this world if you do not ask anyone’s permission.
