Often, I hear in various surroundings, “This man seems like breathing on my account.” That, of course, a metaphor, which expresses a very negative attitude towards given person. But let’s go into the direct meaning of this phrase. It turns out that if this person breathes less or does not breathe at all, I will breathe more. This is a common psychological feature that is typical to at least half of the mankind (national peculiarities have nothing to do here). If someone has something, then he has it by depriving me of something – “on my account”. And vice versa, if this one is deprived of something, then I will get it.
In the non-material world, this, of course, is highly illogical. Suppose, an Armenian speaks English fluently, it is very commendable and a highly necessary skill today. If I do not speak fluently, does this mean that the one who masters English has acquired this skill on “my account”? And if God forbid, something happens to this man and he forgets the language, will his knowledge of the language be automatically transferred into my head? Not, if I consider knowing English important, then I myself must study this language rather than envy those who have done it.
Success, knowledge and skills are not a “purse” that is placed on a shelf and is waiting for the master, it is impossible to seize them from each other’s hands, it is only possible to transfer them voluntarily, and the values do not suffer from this exchange, on the contrary, they are multiplied. On the other hand, everyone creates this “wealth” with his work. It is another matter when the government officials are spending my taxpayer’s money, in this case, I am obliged to follow their every move. In all other cases, you must be happy with the successes of those around my and sadden because of their hardship.
It implies to all spheres, including the media. 1in.am has managed to create a truly comprehensive (or, speaking in a professional language, a convergent) media, where the text, audio, video, purely TV content, live broadcasts and so on are combined. If someone was unable to do it, does not have the appropriate talent, diligence, organizational skills and resources, he should not blame anyone for it but him. (I specifically do not address the political orientation of the media as the opinions here might be different but it has nothing to do with the topic). To bear malice to the hardship of the colleagues (hopefully, temporarily), disseminating rumors and “hypothesis” means to think that someone seizes them from you with his successes. In fact, the “number of successes” is not limited, it will suffice to everyone.
