On July 14, the meeting hall of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) hosted the world famous film actress Jacqueline Bisset. This is her 13th visit to Armenia by the invitation of the organizers of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival. “Golden Apricot” program has scheduled a retrospective screening of the films with her participation.
Harutyun Khachatryan, founding director of “Golden Apricot” film festival, noted that he personally knows Jacqueline Bisset for 5 years, from the Moscow and Locarno Film Festival, and is happy that she finally found time to come to Armenia. “She was considered the world’s most beautiful actress but in addition to being beautiful, she is talented, you enjoy communicating with her, especially as she is a very ordinary person, and we danced Armenian dances together yesterday and I again fell in love with Jacqueline Bisset,” – said Harutyun Khachatryan. Bisset noted, “I know that attending such festivals is a great privilege, but taking part in such events is not a part of my ordinary interests and routine life. I do not know much about Armenia but I know many Armenians in Los Angeles. It’s amazing how many Armenians I know, and when I said them that I am going to Armenia, everyone’s faces immediately brightened. I know that your country had faced a lot of hardship, but I realized that you’re also very happy people.”
Aravot.am was curious to know what is a good film according to Jacqueline Bisset. “First of all, it is the good script. Without a good script, nothing will come out. The most important person for me is, first and foremost, the scripture but the film producer’s role is also essential. There are film producers who produce films with fewer words but rich scenes,” – said the actress. She added that she had learned a lot from when working already with classical film producers, for example, the story should always be moved forward in the film. “Most of the actors are very fond of big plans but they are not always justified. When I was young, I also wanted my face to appear on the screen in big plan, enough time passed to understand that it is also possible to express emotions with your body… I guess it’s because when you are young and strained, you do not know where to hide your hands,” said Bisset. She said that she would like to be born again to be an actress as it is a comprehensive occurrence. “When I was young, I was very shy, I was always trying to overcome my timidity, opportune, I was the only girl in our class who was fond of classical music and was interested in the art and photography, I wanted to see the world and I was thinking that the actor’s work can unite all of this. I was not familiar with the film, I was familiar with the ballet and musical world … At the age of 15, my Latin teacher told me that I am a chatty girl, accordingly, I can become a good actress. Later, I was invited to a dinner in London, where Roman Polanski was present among others. He also told me that I am a girl with narrow discretionary nature and I can become a good actress … Later, this seed germinated and I decided to choose cinema. I was attending classes and my parents allowed me to watch foreign films of with famous masters. I realized that it is the world that I want,” – said the most beautiful actress of all times.
