David Shahnazaryan is calling Pavel Manukyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan and others “to lay down the arms and surrender to law enforcement authorities”
“The main aim is to avoid bloodshed and the negotiated settlement of the current situation. So far, I refrained making political comments considering that any political commentary could further aggravate the situation. But now situation seems to be more complicated. I am calling those who have occupied the district police headquarters: Pavel Manukyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan and others. Your actions endanger not only the authorities of Republic of Armenia, but also our statehood and our nation.
You proved that Zhirayr Sefilyan’s arrest was justified. Regardless what is the attitude towards the authorities you don’t and won’t have public support. I call you to lay down the arms and surrender to law enforcement authorities. And maybe then our society will somehow soften its attitude towards you and the court will take it into the consideration. Otherwise you and personally Zhirayr Sefilyan will be responsible for the bloodshed. A group of armed men from an opposition group stormed a district police headquarters in Yerevan. As a result one policeman is killed, there are also wounded and hostages.
