Varuzhan Avetisyan, the Deputy Chairman of the “Founding Parliament”, who is in the territory occupied by them in the RA Police Patrol Service Regiment, in an interview with Aravot.am, told that the night passed peacefully and yesterday they have released one policeman by the suggestion of the leader of the “Founding Parliament”, Zhirayr Sefilyan. “Alek Yenigomshyan came here, conveyed Zhirayr Sefilyan’s words to release one more person as a gesture of goodwill. And we released one more young man who did not feel himself well because of having an allergy,” – said Varuzhan Avetisyan. At the point, there are five hostages in the Patrol Service Regiment in the occupied territory by “Sasna Tsrer” (The Daredevils of Sasun) group and in Erebuni administrative district. Whether it is possible to release all hostages one after another leaving only the senior police officers: Osipyan and Yeghiazaryan, Deputy Chairman of the Founding Parliament said, “I do not know, the process will show.” To the question about the phase of the negotiations underway, Varuzhan Avetisyan said, “We continue to demand Sefilyan come here. (Zhirayr Sefilyan is in custody for about one month – N. B.) But before the detention, he had come up with a suggestion by the 3rd option, the option of solving the problem without a shock. I cannot divulge this option. Now, let us see whether there is discussion and negotiation, let us see what will happen.” The internet is shut down in the attacked and the so-called occupied territories, and they maintain the connection with outside, as Avetisyan said, with the help of cellular phones.
Note that on July 17, early in the morning, the “Sasna Tsrer” group attacked the building of the Erebuni administrative district patrol service, seized it and held policemen as a hostage. As a result of the attack, one policeman was killed and several others had received firearm wounds. Note that RA Deputy Chief of Police Vardan Yeghiazaryan and Deputy Chief of Police of the city of Yerevan Valery Ospiyan who had gone to the scene to negotiate are kept as a hostage by those who have occupied the building of the police patrol service, and the members of “Sasna Tsrer” group are keeping them as a security guarantee.
