Certainly, it is easy to give advice from aside, and since I naturally do not know all the information, my approaches may seem naïve or ill-informed. But hundreds of people are offering ways out of the situation, and I am trying to make my modest contribution in this.
What would I do if I were the RA President? I would have spoken. The main subject, in my opinion, should be not so much the attack on the police building, taking a hostage and killing the police colonel but the process of negotiations over the Karabakh conflict. I would have somehow made citizens of Armenia understand that there is no intention of the concession of territory. Certainly, it can be packaged in a way that it does not hamper the negotiation process. For example, “we are very far away now…” and so on. Pertaining to the incidents in Erebuni administrative district, I would just have said, “the government will do its best for the peaceful solution of the problem.” Pertaining to the police illegalities, I would have said, “I have instructed the police chief to carry out a service investigation and strictly punish …”
The rest is a matter of technique. I know that the NSS staffs as honest, patriotic and apropos, fought people as the guys having gone by the wrong way, whose honesty and patriotism I do not doubt too. They will come to an agreement. Importantly that the president publicly demonstrates a political support to this process.
This, naturally, will not ensure our country from the recurrence of such incidents. To tell the truth, it will not ensure anything. The experience of the United States, France, Norway, Italy and Japan shows that regardless of the development level and the society, there will always be people who want to prove their truth by force of weapon. But, however, there is one indicator. Suppose, Serzh Sargsyan resigns tomorrow and Zhirayr Sefilyan becomes a president. Will the members of “Sasna Tsrer” group be judged? Will they be jailed for their actions?

If, let’s say, Liska with his whole family (which they indeed are worth) is kept behind the jars but not these guys, then it will prove that the fight is not truly for the justice and legality but for who has the right to exercise violence and who has not.
But most importantly to create legal passageways, through which the citizens would be able to influence the adopted decisions. Again, back to the main reason of today’s discontent: we, the citizens of Armenia, all Armenians have a fear that negotiations discuss the issue of the concession of lands. And we are more concerned about the fact that an appropriate decision can be taken without asking our opinion.
