Other’s pit

July 21,2016 12:50

During the 2008 presidential elections, I voted for Levon Ter-Petrosyan, about which I have written before the elections and after the elections. But being his supporter and moreover, in close relationship with some of his comrades in arms, I could evade the periodic virtual attacks and curses by “ANC’s activists”. The reason was that “Aravot” was publishing not only materials about “Serge, leave!” “We will win” and the “regime is in panic” but also reverse and neutral opinions. Irrespective of how I support the first president, I also do not think that he is infallible and all his moves are genius.

Naturally, I was not the only target of “psychological pressing”, more worthy people than I, were exposed to blackmail, if you say so then you are a client, if you do another way, then you are dhol and so on. In short, there is only black and white, “the one who is not with us is against us”, “a step right and a step left – execution by gunshot” and so on. The signals of such thinking, I think, were coming from the first president, otherwise, they would not be so organized by nature. Over the years, the ANC certainly has been changed, it has become more tolerant and broad-minded but the tradition introduced by them into the game and accepted by many of them was maintained and developed and was extended to others. Now, in parallel with the development of Facebook and radicalization of the society, the aforementioned “psychological pressing” has become heavier, more organized and more widespread. So widespread that ANC and Levon Ter-Petrosyan appeared in the “proscription lists” subject to blackmail. As they say, do not dig a pit for others.

This time, the formula “downed from the top” is as follows: “These guys are devotees of the nation, who with their actions (i.e. seizing the police building, holding a hostage and killing a police officer) create the bright future of Armenia.” If someone slightly deviates from this formula by giving a different assessment to the situation, even though strongly condemning the authorities and demanding a change of government, or if someone in addition to crashing the head, shooting down and murdering, makes another suggestion, then he deserves at least the label of a “servant of the government” but more often, to swearwords of sexually character in Latin transliteration Armenian. The goal is clear: to make these people either to fit into the above-mentioned formula or be silent in general. Many people are broke of this massive moral pressure and do either one or the other. Many people (like, Tigran Hakobyan or Azat Arshakyan) continue to resist and stubbornly advance their point of view.

… Interestingly, when a 20-year-old young man who has not yet managed to do anything in his life blackens Tigran Mansuryan, does he think that he becomes “white” by doing so?
