As has repeatedly said, this situation can be resolved in three ways: a/ Serzh Sargsyan resigns (a less likely option), b/ the militants surrender, c/ the law enforcers use force against militants (the most undesired option). Irrespective which of these three possible options will become true, I must make a very painful prediction. Such protests of seizing the Patrol-Sentry Service will be continued, and every next one will be more dangerous and with more serious consequences.
In the case of the first option, the militants are going to be the masters of the situation, “We have done such a thing for the sake of this nation by putting our lives on the altar, now we are to decide…” “We are not going to lay down our weapons even after the change of power, said one of the members of the armed group on Saturday, – We will put down our weapons when we know that we have a government that serves the people.” In other words, the list of “people’s trusted government” (“revolutionary committee”), eventually, “without laying down the weapons” will be compiled by “Sasna Tsrer” group, of course, saying that it was done by the “people”, however, it is not clear by what mechanism. However, the “interim government” liked by the “Sasna Tsrer” armed group and working under its gun sight could not be liked, let’s say, by “Mher’s Door” armed group, which could have a totally different view about “people’s trust”, with all its consequences. In this case, the next PSS action, and possibly, the civil war will be launched much quicker.
But the worst thing is that things will be the same during the second and the third options, perhaps, a little later. The problem is that our government has lost its alertness, it has lost the pulse of life and has no idea about the scales of discontent and hatred. It seems to them that against the background of universal loyalty, there are certain layers of discontented and protesters who are basically victims of some opposition propaganda, without realizing that it cannot be better than it is now.
But the situation is different, and the fact that the majority of our citizens do not have the “immune” against the armed political struggle, and in principle is not against “shooting”, “burning” and “slaying” must hint something to the authorities. But I repeat, in this case, the government should turn its face to the cruel reality, first of all, for itself. As long as it does not do it, again groups will emerge who will have the temptation to resolve the issues with the help of weapons.
