New York office of Human Rights Watch commented on the recent events in Yerevan, namely taking doctors, who were realizing their professional duties hostage by members of the armed group, who had previously seized police station in Erebuni.
“Taking hostages is always a crime, taking doctors hostage is always a crime. International humanitarian law relates to wars and armed conflicts between warring parties, so it wouldn’t be relevant to this situation. But that does not make the taking of hostages any less of a crime,” Deputy Director of the Europe and Central Asia Division of Human Rights Watch, Rachel Denber told Panorama.am.
