Usually, “reaction” begins after the defeat of the revolutions and after the victory of the revolution – “terror” begins. Both terms here are historical rather than legal. In the first case, the authorities throw all its dangerous opponents into the prison, restrict the level of freedoms of expression and rallies that existed before the revolution attempt. In short, tightens the screws fearing that the events will be repeated, and the revolutionaries being the so to speak the “victim” of this occurrence will acquire new apologists.
On the contrary, after the victory of the revolution, someone like Robespierre or Felix Edmundovich emerges who takes revenge on all those who were not loyal to the revolutionaries and, in his opinion, were not fighting against the “regime.” Usually, the intellectuals are exposed to such “lustration”, for whom the global happiness acquired at “all cost” is not such a great happiness. Now, we are reading the audacity of “courageous Facebook users” saying, now look what we are going to do with you when we win (as a rule, such threats are voiced by those who are already not in Armenia long time ago).
Which is better of them? Naturally, both are equally bad. We have passed this several times in Armenia during these 25 years. Certainly, the “reaction” still wins in us. But if this time, let’s assume, it is the opposite, I do not think that it will positively enrich our historical experience.
Anyway, it is purely a theoretical option because this time too, apparently, the “reaction” will win. It is hard to imagine something more “reaction” than the attack of police (or who knows, maybe criminals) dressed in civilian clothes or earmarked attack on the journalists and their devices for hamper their work. I must emphasize that I do not doubt the right of the police not to allow the protesters enter the SPS territory. But what was done yesterday in the evening, it was a punitive action rather that a police operation.
An operation that was implemented by special sadism and hooligan style, maybe aiming to revenge for the previous events, which, of course, also cannot be the function of the law enforcements.
Nevertheless, I still believe that the outcome is the peaceful but well-organized and active fight, avoid of extremes and qualifications. And imagine, also to love one another.
