Charges under Part 3 of the Article 218 (Taking hostages) and Part 3 of the Article 235 (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code were pressed against Arayik Khandoyan, member of Daredevils of Sassoun armed group, which had seized the patrol police regiment in Yerevan on July 17
As Khandoyan’s lawyer Arayik Papoyan told Panorama.am, he had a meeting with his client who is kept at Vagharshapat hospital for inmates.
“He is in normal state. He was provided medical aid today in the morning per my request. Earlier he had rejected any assistance so far. He is markedly limping, but thanks God, his is in normal state,” the lawyer said.
Papikyan noted his defendant does not admit the charges. “He says no hostages were taken,” the lawyer said.
To remind, the crimes under the Articles 218 and 235 pressed against Khandoyan are punishable by imprisonment from 8-15 and from 3-8 years respectively.
