“The 25-year Artsakh has achievements almost in all areas. Artsakh is established and actually is an independent state not only “de facto” but also “de jure”, – said historian Edik Minasyan at the “Pastark” press club, referring to the 25-year of proclamation of Artsakh Republic, adding that the Artsakh independence was an opportune and correct decision, which complies with the legislation of the USSR.
Back to the question of what intervention Russia has on the regional security, Minasyan stated that Russia will continue having its role in the Caucasus region: “Russia does not hide the fact that it continues to sell arms to Azerbaijan, the latter has petrodollar and buys it. But let us not forget that Russia is our strategic ally and has a contractual relationship with Azerbaijan.” As the historian said, Russia will never give up its ambitions and economic ties with Azerbaijan: “In the current situation, Armenia looks like isolated but Russia has certain obligations towards us. I do not think that in the case of the escalation of the situation, Russia will run a balanced policy in the region and will use restrictive mechanisms, however, we can say that today we keep the partnership with Russia to the end. We are steadfast to our military cooperation.”
