Today, at the “Pastark” press club, referring to the military and political agreement between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, Republican MP Artak Davtyan said that works are underway: “It is quite a serious document… followed by the recognition of NKR, but as long as the talks are underway, they are the reason why Armenia has not recognized Nagorno-Karabakh so far.”
In his words, if it comes to the recognition of Artsakh by Armenia, “We will recognize the NKR with the territory enshrined by its Constitution, which includes the Shahumyan region with its adjacent suburbs, in short, 12 thousand sq./m. of coverage.” To the question of why Armenia did not recognize Artsakh after the hostilities in April, Davtyan replied, “If it had recognized, it would mean a change in “the status quo” and a new format of talks. I do not think that Armenia is displeased with the Minsk Group format, on the contrary, it always expresses its commitment. Nothing was going to be changed after the recognition. It would mean wide-scale hostilities, which as to what consequences would have, no one knows.”
