On September 5, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian delivered a traditional lecture at the International Relations Faculty of the Yerevan State University on the occasion of the opening of the new academic year. The event was attended by the first-year students and professors of the Faculty.
Edward Nalbandian congratulated the attendees on the opening of the new academic year and wished them a productive year. Addressing the freshmen, Minister Nalbandian wished a success to the students of one of the most prominent Faculties of the Alma Mater.
During his remarks and the Q&A that followed, Edward Nalbandian presented Armenia’s stance on a range of regional and international issues and ways to resolve them.
The Minister touched upon the large-scale military aggression, unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in early April and the efforts exerted to overcome its consequences. He presented in details the agreements reached during the Vienna and Saint Petersburg Summits. Edward Nalbandian emphasized, that the implementation of those arrangements would create relevant conditions for the advancement of peace process.

Edward Nalbandian reflected on the efforts of the Armenian diplomacy towards the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as Armenia’s leading role in the prevention of genocide and crimes against humanity on international platforms. In this context, Minister Nalbandian referred to the Global Forums “Against the Crime of Genocide”, held in Yerevan in 2015 and 2016.
Edward Nalbandian informed the students on the efforts being undertaken towards the development of allied relations with the Russian Federation, deepening of friendly partnership with the United States of America, strengthening of cooperation with the European Union, developing of friendly cooperation with neighbouring Georgia and Iran, expansion of ties with other partner countries.
Foreign Minister reflected on Armenia’s active involvement in different international institutions and processes, steps exerted by the Armenian diplomacy towards the expansion of economic cooperation.
