ABF President, NA lawmaker Arthur Gevorgyan, in his exclusive interview with Аravot.am, said that he has agreed with a foreign high-class coach who will be the head of Armenia’s national team in not so far future. “I have some agreements with some foreign coaches. One of them want 270 thousand dollars another one – 130 thousand dollars, there is also one with a little lower class. They are ready to direct the boxers in the right track and be responsible for the result. In the year-end, we will conduct a Federation conference and we will see our potentials. I am thinking and talking about this. It is better to spend a half million dollars per year and form a team of professionals in order to have 2-3 Olympic champions four years later,” -said Mr. Gevorgyan.
To the question of whether one swallow makes a summer and whether we are talking about the Olympic gold medals or the medals in general, the president of the Federation countered, “The first flowers is already a sign of spring. Yes, I mean gold medals. Generally, we would medals in this situation too. One coach is already a team, an entire brain, which will form a team shortly. He will go to schools and the knowledge will go and reach villages. The chief coach of the national team will also coordinate the youth and the work of youth teams.” To the last question of whom of the three listed coaches he is more inclined to invite, Arthur Gevorgyan replied, “The most expensive one who is also the best. There is no sense to invite the average one. Our coaches themselves provide average results. We need a professional who our coaches will accept and work with his elaborated program.”
