The National Assembly of Armenia voted for Armenia’s Prosecutor’s General candidacy today. The counting commission of the parliament presented the results, according to which 103 out of 130 parliamentarians participated in the secret ballot. Backed by 97 members of the parliament, Artur Davtyan was elected Prosecutor General of Armenia.
To note, Artur Davtyan was the only candidate nominated for the position. After the voting Davtyan thanked RA President, the Parliament for the trust. He next vowed “to work day and night to address the issues the Armenian prosecution faces”.
Earlier, Armenian National Congress and Prosperous Armenia factions refused to participate in the voting, while the ruling Republican Party and ARF Dashnaktsutyun backed Davtyan’s candidacy.
