“Whatsoever, nothing will make things change”

September 16,2016 14:01

I always feel very bad hearing talks like “anyway, nothing will work out”, “this country will never be fixed” and so on. There is a philistine indifference in the characterizations of “this country,” “this nation” when a person deliberately expels himself from everything (sometimes, former Armenians living abroad are deeply vexed saying “your country”).  If a person does not say “my country”, “I”, “we”, then he has no chance to express himself, and irrespective of the level of welfare, he has the psychology of a homeless.

It is more painful when the public official thinks something like that.  Certainly, he does not sound these “miserable” estimations aloud and utters right things, but subconsciously, he treats his country as “this country”, and as it is so, he, in my opinion, has every grounds to squeeze everything from “this country” what he needs to fill in his stomach.

The most tragic situation is when people come to the state system with the best intentions and then under the influence of flaws of the system, they gradually degenerate, and saying in mind, “Whatsoever, nothing will make things change” they appear in the so-called “free fall” condition.  What is the fate of those many who have come to power in 1990 if not a free fall?  Now too, there are not totally lost-for-the-society people in the public system, but their day-to-day disappointment is added by the philistine frame of mind, “well, let me at least solve my problems.”

Now, you can also hear voices about the new government, “anyway, nothing will work out.”  It may, of course, not work out, the previous prime ministers also promised to reduce the shadow economy, combat monopolies and corruption, but it did not work.  There is no guarantee that this one attempt will be successful.  But when you begin murmuring that “this country cannot be fixed”, I become convinced that these whimpers do not want to have anything happen because, in that case, their inner world based on the disharmony will shake.

No prime minister, no president and no minister will feed us, will not create jobs for us, moreover, will not make us happy.  Truly, nothing will “make things change” if you inside your soul and at your subconscious level do not want something “to work out”.  “And not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope “(Romans 5).
