President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan on a working visit, participated at the meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State in Bishkek which was conducted in the restricted format, public relations department of the office of the RA President informs.
According to the source, the meeting was presided over by the President of the host country Almazbek Atambaev. At the meeting, which was conducted first in the restricted and later in the extended format, in the framework of the agenda of the meeting the Heads of State will discuss issues related to the cooperation of the member states in the political, economic, humanitarian and security areas, over a dozen of issues related to the countering the new challenges and threats. The discussions will be followed by the document signing ceremony. The results of the works of the Council will be recapped by the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev at the meeting with the representatives of the mass media.
In Bishkek, the Presidents are expected to sign a Presidential Declaration on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States in which they will summarized the results of the activities carried out by the Organization in the last twenty-five years and will specify the prospects of the expansion and deepening of the cooperation in the framework of bringing the CIS in line with the existing reality.
