In recent years, especially after the death of editor-in-chief of “Agos” and public figure Hrant Dink, killed by Turkish nationalists on January 19, 2007, more courageous rallies are held in Turkey, and people start to talk more about the Armenian Genocide.
Particularly since 2008 -2009, each year, on April 24, mothers who live in Turkey and have lost their children, organize rallies in the center of Istanbul – Galatasaray Square – holding the photos of the Armenian intellectuals in their hands who were arrested in 1915, and on Saturdays, they are holding the photos of their dead, arrested and unknown reasons lost children, as well as posters with a demand of finding them.

Incidentally, the protesting mothers are called Saturday Mothers in Turkey. On September 24, we attended the next Saturday rally, which was overcrowded. Perhaps, many people have come just to watch it. The Square was closed and the police were thoroughly checking all citizens entering the scene of the rally. Note that the rally was attended by members of the Turkish Parliament, as well as RA NA MP, President of “Veradardz” Foundation Aragats Akhoyan.
