“Justice Within Armenia” petition, which is signed by prominent figures of Armenia and Diaspora is composed of entirely true claims and assessments. To say “no” to corruption and say “yes” to fair elections, who can be against it? But if I were offered to sign this petition, I would not do it just because of only one but, in my opinion, significant sentence. “In the wake of yearly protests and recent upheavals during the spring and summer of 2016 that resulted in gross violations of human and civic rights,” – reads the statement.
Specifically, what resulted in gross violations of human and civil rights? I do not know what the authors of the petition mean by speaking about the spring of 2016. But to use smeared wording of “upheavals and protest” regarding the events occurred in the summer of the same year, it seems to me, is wrong. In July 2017, an armed attack was organized on the police regiment, which resulted in the deaths of police officers performing their duties. This was followed by breaking through the barriers surrounding the police patrol regiment and the attempts to join the fighters. Where these not “gross violations of human and civil rights”?
In my opinion, the worst thing is that the intellectuals, civic and political figures who have or have not signed the petition, do not dare to call a spade a spade, to make these statements clear for they are afraid to fall under the “pound” of lumpen crowd, and therewith, they are contributing to the lumpen of the society more than any of broadcast with the participation of rabiz singers. Glory and honor to those several political parties and individuals who had the courage to oppose the global “trend”.

The remaining allegations in the aforementioned text are just, and naturally, it’s worth joining those good wishes. Certainly, it would be better that the police is not engaged in a manhunt in the streets, that the judges do not expect a “call from above”, that the officials would not steal, that the CEC would recognize the people who are truly elected in the elections winners.
As to how it is possible, the authors of the petition do not say. I hope they do not think that it is possible to do by the “desperate moves of the devotees of the nation.”
