Italy’s Basilicata Regional Council (Consiglio Regionale della Basilicata) unanimously adopted a resolution on September 27 recognizing the Armenian Genocide. The draft resolution was introduced by a independent lawmaker Aurelio Pace at the request of the local Armenian community.
As the press department of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports, the resolution stresses that the Armenian Genocide has been recognized by numerous international organizations as well as by Turkish military tribunal (1919).
The resolution calls on raising awareness among the public and especially the youth about the tragedy suffered by the Armenian people in order to prevent such massacres in the future.
