“According to my information, all examined materials are sent to the European Court of Human Rights. We need to wait for the first reaction that they have received them,” – said RA first Ombudsman Larisa Alaverdyan at the “Pastark” press club, referring to the cases of atrocities and tortures against the soldiers of the NKR Defense Army by the Azerbaijani soldiers during the hostilities in April. She mentioned that the second response of ECHR should be the fact that the materials are accepted, and the third one is particularly sending relevant inquiries to Azerbaijan.
“As of today, the first stage is completed: compiling and sending the materials,” – said Marisa Alaverdyan, adding that depending on the case, the timing between the stages is different, – “Until today, no criminal proceedings was filed in Azerbaijan, the heads of two soldiers are not returned. In other words, saying deadlines is not correct.” The speaker also mentioned that many countries circumvent the ECHR’s decision, however, for the future, it can serve as a basis for other international organizations: the Council of Europe, OSCE, EU, and the UN.
