“Probably, we will not call it an “association agreement” as in the past, we have had a draft Association Agreement but because of reorientation, we have not passed it. But now, we have launched negotiations on a new Framework Agreement, which are progressing very well,” – said Dirk Lorenz, the Head of the Political, Economic, Press and Information Department of the EU delegation in Armenia, in an interview with Aravot.am, referring to the current stage of negotiations on Armenia-EU Association Agreement. “We are registering a progress, we have managed to finish a few chapters of the document. The next round of negotiations will be launched soon in Yerevan in continuing this positive spirit,” – he said.
As characterized by Dirk Lorenz, Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union is in the past, “We are now negotiating on an agreement that will meet the other commitments of Armenia. At the same time, we need to clearly understand what the parties are expecting from bilateral relations.” The EU delegation official also talked about the new Government of Armenia, emphasizing, “We are looking forward to working with the new government, to continue our common agenda, with which the European Union is ready to assist Armenia on the way to democratic reforms.”
