“Military-technical partnership between Armenia and Russia is developing. I think we need to develop new ways of partnership,” – Ivan Volinkin, Russian Ambassador to Armenia in an interview with the reporters during the first International Exhibition of Arms and Defense Technologies – ArmHiTec-2016. Referring to the weapons on display at the exhibition, the ambassador noted that there are many Armenian manufacturers, which is an important stimulus for the economy of Armenia, “I hope that the exhibition will become an annual event, God willing.” Ivan Volinkin assured that agreements on the military-technical partnership between Armenia and Russia will be also signed in the near future.
The ambassador also said that he has no information whether Russia is planning to supply cruise missiles to Azerbaijan, “Cruise missiles are one thing, “Iskander” – another…” To the remark that the Azerbaijani side has declared this, Volinkin reacted, “Maybe Azerbaijani side knows something that we do not know.” The ambassador also noted that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be normalized only by the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group, and other countries have no right to intervene.
