“Having weapons is not enough to say that you are secure, even though this is a political message to your enemy,” – such an opinion was expressed by NA MO Tevan Poghosyan, in an interview with Aravot.am, referring to the modern arms exhibition held in Yerevan.
According to him, we need to think about the mechanisms of ensuring everyday security, “Whether these weapons and capabilities that are on display here will be obtained and we will see a rapid modernization, ranging from outfit to the night observation devices. We must also be able to create the following situation when we will not doubt to always have the commanders who will not allow mistakes but will have the ‘courage’ to command, and we will use the type of weapon, which must be used that day.”
We asked to interpret the statement recently voiced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that he is imposed and forced to recognize the independence of Artsakh. “This should not cause surprise for the Armenian side. We always knew that this issue is being discussed. If it comes to the surprise, let the Azerbaijanis be surprised because Aliyev himself was always saying that there is no such an issue and they have nothing to think about that it can be discussed. And now, he is saying, “a pressure is used against me but I’m such a strong guy that I withstand and I do not accept this issue,” – derides Tevan Poghosyan.
In his opinion, therewith, Aliyev is trying to encourage his people, and tell the international community that he is ready to resolve the conflict in a military way, “I think that the international community more has the problem to do here when it is making weak statements of putting an equal sign. While, the Armenian side should be worried about the development of its economy.” Referring to the “Iskander” missiles acquired by Armenian, our interlocutor said, “We have paid for it. It does not matter whether you have paid half of the price, 1/3rd or 100 percent, they are already Armenian, ours.”
