“Iskander should give rise to Azerbaijan to fear and think. To imagine the scale of disasters caused by Iskander, I will bring an example: One shell fired from the cannon with 152 mm caliber weighs 54 kg, which can devastate a whole engineering facility,” – responded Deputy Chief of Department of Missile Forces and Artillery of RA Armed Forces, Artavazd Yaghmuryan, in response to our question of whether the Iskander may become a restraining factor for Azerbaijan in the case of the resumption of possible large-scale operations.
In his words, “Iskander” is practically impossible to detect and attack. Head of the Armed Service Operation and Planning Division of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel Zorayr Gabrielyan continued that Russia has no technical measure to restrict the use of the weapons, “According to the agreement, we do not have any restrictions for use.” To the next question of what is the possibility of using Iskander ever, for example, it is known that its use in the small battles is not possible, Mr. Gabrielyan replied, “This weapon enables its use even in the small actions if the need arises. The trajectory attack enables avoiding big losses.”
“The Iron Dome cannot be a counterbalance for Iskander, not to speak about striking it,” assured the experts. “Iskander having a high speed of a strike is practically impossible to detect and strike. The Iron Dome is mainly designed for the defense of various types of handmade missiles by Arabs. Iskander changes the trajectory during its flight, and it is impossible to guess where it can fall except for the one who attacks as he is the one who has programmed it. Iron Dome perhaps is an effective way but not for large-scale operations, its radius is mainly 70 km, Israel has created it for itself, it is profitable for Israel,” – added Mr. Yaghmuryan.
