November 01,2016 16:45

“The Russian-Turkish convergence may cause certain risks for Armenia but we can say the same for any convergence. We all speak about the dangers but nobody thinks that there can be positive results. Definitely, it should be taken into account whether such convergence reflects on Artskh issue in any way.

There are dangers in the issue, but it is incorrect to say immediately that if two states converge, there are dangers”, during the talk with Aravot.am said Head of Political Science Department at Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University , head of research laboratory specialized in the field of national security Hovhannes Sargsyan. he thinks that the Russian-Turkish convergence can be positive in terms of settling economic issues in the region, “The deadlock condition, which we have now, cannot continue all the time. Perhaps positive developments can be in this issue in the context of Russian-Turkish convergence. It is about the establishment of certain economic ties with Turkey. I say this as a citizen and political scientists not as an expert in the regional affairs. We should not have brutal stand and black and white mindset. All the countries have interests, including us”. In the words of our interlocutor, perhaps it is necessary to juxtapose our interests with that of Russia’s and Turkey’s interests and find possibilities of development in that way.
