The theme of blasting “The fist publishing house” building is one of the most discussed ones. Some justify that move, others think that it razed to the ground another part of Old Yerevan.
Painter Haghtanak Shahumyan supports the second opinion. “The distortion of the image of Yerevan has become the grief and pain to all of us. I was born and grew up in those districts. When we were children, we used to walk by the publishing house with another respect because it meant to us something like the academy of sciences. Such buildings are characters for the residents of Yerevan that cannot be demolished. So many elite buildings are build, but there are no people inside, what have they gained? Or if they build a hotel more, who will they surprise by that? All these should be ended…” resented artist during the talk with “Aravot”.
