President Serzh Sargsyan met in Bagratashen with the he Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili

President Serzh Sargsyan, who arrived to Bagratashen to participate at the official opening of the border pass and familiarize with the preparation works for the construction of the Armenian-Georgian Friendship Bridge, today met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who has arrived to Armenia on that occasion.
Greeting Prime Minister Kvirikashvili, the President of Armenia stressed the importance of regular high level contacts, which according to the President, promote the strengthening of the Armenian-Georgian relations and provide an opportunity to discuss in the constructive and warm atmosphere issues on the bilateral agenda which present mutual interest.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Sargsyan congratulated Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the citizens of Georgia on the successful outcome of the parliamentary elections and on a conclusive victory of the Georgian Dream Party. Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence that the new Parliament and new Government of Georgia will carry on persistently with the policy of reformation for the benefit of Georgia’s advancement and prosperity, as well as for the further strengthening of the Armenian-Georgian good-neighborly relations.

The parties noted with satisfaction that the two friendly neighboring states are developing consistently their political cooperation, invigorating the interstate relations, thus building a strong foundation for the elevation of the bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level. The President of Armenia and Prime Minister of Georgia spoke also about the opportunities for the expansion of the trade and economic ties, including in the areas of transportation, energy, tourism, agriculture, and others.
The Prime Minister of Georgia congratulated President Sargsyan on the opening of the newly constructed border point. Noting that a considerable amount of work has already been done, Grigori Kvirikashvili stressed the importance of works aimed at the modernization of the infrastructure, which in his opinion, will promote Armenia’s economic development and deepening of the Armenian-Georgia trade and economic cooperation.

Serzh Sargsyan and Giorgi Kvirikashvili also exchanged views on the regional and international issues.
