“I do not want to rush at conclusions. Let’s wait for Mr. Trump’s steps after which we will make conclusions,” in the conversation with Aravot.am said Chair of Armenia-USA Parliamentary Friendship Group, Member of Supreme Body of the Republican Party of Armenia Samvel Nikoyan touching upon the official results of the USA presidential elections. Hence, millionaire candidate Donald Trump ,who became famous for eccentric behavior and statements during the whole campaign, won the elections. Samvel Nikoyan notes that the experience shows that the USA presidential candidates make lots of promises, make various statements, draw landmarks, but after the elections during their activity there are seen changes. As the most vivid example interesting to us-the Armenians- he brings the example of the Genocide recognition issue adding that many of the USA presidential candidates had included that issue in their pre-election promises. Whereas, after the elections they demonstrated completely different approach.
“What is often said during the campaign is not what the political figures intend to do. They just find a target groups in the society and make caressing statements and et votes,” said the RPA candidate, in any case highlighting that a millionaire, who does not have political biography, has appeared in the political field and in the most significant post. In his opinion, for the last decades this new political reality will have its manifestation in the Western countries.
In answer to the question given by Aravot.am, whether we are at the edge of geopolitical changes, Samvel Nikoyan said, that it was not excluded that the new face of Washington would make certain underlying changes, but in global sense the USA policy cannot be changed as in that country one person is not decisive, institutions work there. The RPA deputy is particularly impressed that after the hard and severe competition the defeated side shook the hand of the winner and wished good luck;
” This has turned into a state value system. I congratulate the Americans, they made their choice.”
