Aravot.am asked the co-chair of Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA NA and RF Federal Assembly, the famous statesman and national hero of Armenia, Nikolay Ryzhkov, to interpret the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s statement saying, “Turkey can play a positive role in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement”. “I think Lavrov has reasons to say so … Turkey has a great influence on Azerbaijan. I think that by saying this Lavrov meant that in the case of a particular desire Azerbaijan can solve the issue with Turkey only in that way,”- said Nikolay Ryzhkov in an interview with us.
As also inquired about his opinion on the allegation that in the context of Russian-Turkish rapprochement, Turkey can exert pressure on Russia aiming to make concessions to Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “What partners are we with Turkey? It is not a cooperation, Turkey is in NATO, while we are in a completely different place. I do not think that we have such a partnership with Turkey to influence on some matters,” – said Nikolai Ryzhkov.
