World-famous flamenco dancer of Armenian descent Lori La Armenia is bringing the spirit of authentic flamenco to the local audience. Lori accompanied by her five Spanish musicians will perform at Yerevan’s Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on November 19, at 19:00.

Lori’s dance embodies grace and passion with flawless techniques. It is full of diverse emotions and stories that perfectly convey the feel of flamenco.
“Dancing means freedom to me. Flamenco is my one and only dance! It requires a lot of musicality and ability to improvise. It can hardly be mixed with another genre.”
In 2010, UNESCO declared flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Flamenco is a harmonious blend of music, poetry and dancing. All elements have their important message: rhythms born out of stamping of the feet, the look, handclapping and beautiful sounds of the guitar.

On November 19 Lori and Spanish musicians will perform different styles of traditional flamenco, which will transport the audience to Andalusia, the birthplace of this beautiful dancing genre.

Lori has won standing ovation on different famous stages of the world. In 2014 she was recognized the best Flamenco dancer at the competition of Bulerias in the French city of Nîmes.

Lori started dancing flamenco at twelve. At eighteen she moved to Spain, where she lived and danced for about ten years with the Spanish gypsies of Jerez de la Frontera and Seville.

“In flamenco you don’t choose your name, you are given a name. Lori La Armenia is the name I was given in Jerez by my maestra Manuela Moneo Carpio,” Lori says.
Lori La Armenia has been invited to Armenia by Deem Communications which has over the past years introduced famous Armenian musicians from the Diaspora, among them the lead vocalist of the of the world-renowned “System of a Down” rock band, Lebanese-Armenian musician, composer and pianist Guy Manoukian, stand-up comedian Vahe Berberian, Lebanese-Armenian singer/musician Eileen Khatchadourian, member of indie pop duo “Capital Cities”, Sebu Simonian, as well as Element Band and Zulal A Cappella Trio.
