The Russian-Armenian armed group has been created long ago, the commander is Major General Andranik Makaryan, whose appointment has been discussed beforehand, and Vladimir Putin has just signed the respective document by bringing the issue to the legal field. In an interview with Aravot.am, the following details on the Armenian-Russian united armed group were expressed by Spokesperson of the RA Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
“The armed group consists of the 102nd Russian military base and some Armenian detachments, and is managed by Andranik Makaryan. The armed group is for the use of X performance and has no direct connection with the CSTO cooperation,” said Artsrun Hovhannisyan in an interview with us. He informed that in the case of aggression against Armenia or Russia, the activities of the armed group will be carried out by the Armenian commandership, and the Russian military base will act under the Russian commandership on some issues.
