On November 17, at the European Representation Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) in Brussels, a meeting was held between the delegation of the Western Armenian National Congress (WANC), HDP leadership and representatives of the European structure. As reported to Aravot.am by the press service of the Western Armenian National Congress, the meeting addressed the recent developments of alarming concern in Turkey.
The Western Armenian National Congress has strongly condemned the actions by the authorities of Turkey against the HDP Party leaders and Kurdish population. WANC has also addressed a call to all nations of the “Asia Minor homeland” to unite around historical rights for the sake of justice and democracy. The meeting among others was attended by WANC President Suren Seryatarian, Secretary General Sevak Artsruni, a member of WANC National Council member of the RA National Assembly, Aragats Akhoyan, and members of the Turkish Parliament: Faysal Sarıyıldız and Kemal Aktashe. Note that on November 17, early in the morning, the mayor of the city of Van, Bekir Kaya, was arrested and earlier, on November 16, Kurdish mayors of Tunceli (Dersim) and Siirt (Sġerd) were arrested.
