November 21,2016 16:32

On November 19, the joint session of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the International Committee of the Russian Federation Council was held at the National Assembly of Armenia.  During the interview with the reporters, the head of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Upper Chamber at the meeting of the Federation Council of the Russia Federation, Konstantin Kosachev, referring to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict said the situation is worrying, “We were anxiously following the April events.  You know that Russia immediately reacted.  We put all chances into action to reduce the tension of emotions and return the situation to the politics dimension.  Thank God, we managed to do it very quickly but alas it did not take advance the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”

He mentioned that they have discussed the problem with the Foreign Minister, and have heard that the Armenian side is ready to go ahead, “From the viewpoint of the Armenian side, Azerbaijan slows down.  It is clear that we would like Armenia and Azerbaijan to come to a common denominator.  Overall, we believe that Russia’s mission contributed to these negotiations.  And I truly believe that our parliamentary format will also be in demand.  We certainly have a direct contact with the Azerbaijani counterparts.  I will most accurately convey what we have heard here.  The parliamentary direction should no way obstruct the negotiation process.  We have no ambition except for disseminating the information by achieving the point with the parliamentary resources that political rather than military solution prevails over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  We will definitely do it.”
