Most recently, Putin approved the draft of creating a union of Armenian-Russian armed forces. To our question of what it will give to us, the member of the NA Committee on Foreign Relations, Hamlet Harutyunyan said, “As we have a wide field of military cooperation, this is one of the forms of it. The united armed forces, I am deeply convinced, is a troop of quick response which as to what purposes it will be used I cannot say.” To our question of whether this is not one of formal step, Hamlet Harutyunyan responded at once, “No, why?”
To our observation that when we need Russia’s support, anyway, we do not get it on important issues as it happened during the April war, Hamlet Harutyunyan replied, “You know what, we Armenians want everybody to know all the secrets at once. And maybe it is the union of troops and one of the forms that possibly will interfere in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflicts, you see? You definitely want me to say things that the Azerbaijani information sources would use it. Try to look at things in a good way. Yes, it is a united troop, as to the form of it, we will see soon.” To our observation that listening to Lavrov’s and Rogozin’s statements, it is hard to be disposed of in a good way, he responded, “Do not pay too much attention to these politicians.” According to him, Putin and his actions are important.
Recall that during the April war, Hamlet Harutyunyan was complaining that we were shot by Russian weapons. Recently, the President of Azerbaijan had met with his soldiers in the frontier, saying that they are fighting for their historic lands, and Lele Tepe is an Azerbaijan land, Shusha is an Azerbaijani land. As mentioned by Hamlet Harutyunyan, “Aliyev is telling fairy tales. He knows very well who are standing facing him, they believe. Aliyev is working only on the domestic cuisine. He, in my opinion, has a much more important problem than Karabakh, than Armenia. It is the idea of establishing a dynastic monarchy, and he is already close to the fulfillment of this dream. The obstacle to the fulfillment of this dream is Karabakh where there is no national unity anymore. I assure you if Aliyev manages to achieve success in the Karabakh front, the people of Azerbaijan will immediately declare him a Caliph without Milli Majlis. Therefore, he sees the Karabakh not as a homeland, he is a quite educated person to believe that it is an oblast connected with Azerbaijan but it is a very convenient bait on the way of seeking the position of a Caliph. If he is able to achieve it, then Aliyev’s dynasty will be established as a royal family of Azerbaijan. Aliyev is generated from his monarchical ambitions, otherwise, Aliyev does not care for Karabakh and any other matters. He cares for his billions and dynastic power.
