For the insult not to be delivered

November 22,2016 14:20

In Russia, a number of priests are protesting against criminalizing the insult of the feelings of believers.  It seems that there is a contradiction here.  But in fact, in my opinion, these priests are correct.

Certainly, insulting the feelings of the believers is an extremely reprehensible behavior.  If you are a true Christian, then you will never insult the religious feelings of a Muslim, Jew or Buddha.  If your faith is deep then you must also understand the depth of others’ belief even in the case if his divinity and rituals do not match with yours.  It can be said, believe yourself and let others to believe in their own way or not believe at all.

But defending the religious feelings by a Criminal Code, it seems to me, is not a good idea.  Therewith, the significance of the belief seems to be disgraced.  if every nonsense talking man can hurt my sanctity then perhaps they are not so unshakable.  Certainly, as any insult, the insult on religious grounds may also be a subject of the trial if a citizen or a group of citizens feel insulted.  However, each within its civil legal relations.  Usually, church “leaders” are in favor of the criminalization to ensure the comfort of their own lives.

The most ideal option is when it is impossible to insult a man.  It happens when his spiritual beliefs are so strong that any attack seems just a vacillation in the air for him.  I, unfortunately, am far from being ideal and in particular, one or two Facebook stings per month “hits” me.  Indeed, I need to restrain my own “ego” and be improved every day.

… A young man comes to a Buddhist master who has not been engaged in combat fight for a long time and invites him to fight.  The Master indulgently smiles.  The young man starts to mock the master, to make judgments about his age and inability but the Master continues to smile.  The young man outrages even more and passes to immediate blasphemy but the Master keeps sitting in the same position.  When the guest leaves, the Master’s disciples ask the teacher in surprise, “Why were you not answering?  The Master explains, “When someone comes to your home and brings a gift and you do not accept this gift, what does he do.  Of course, he takes his gift and leaves your house.  The gift remains with him.”
