“Age-old friendship” is nothing, “image” is everything

November 23,2016 12:45

Russian State Duma commando has signed a joint statement in Yerevan with Armenian parliamentarians by which the parties have assumed a number of commitments, and along with other issues, citing, “The parties reaffirm the responsibility to their country citizens in clarifying the meaning of the Eurasian Economic Union as a close interaction mechanism of independent sovereign states and as a clear and attractive, stable and long-run format for the citizens and businesses in the new economic platform.”

In addition, the parties “… intend to continue the information work within the framework of inter-parliamentary communications and at the international parliamentary organizations’ platforms which is aimed at accessibility of notions on Eurasian economic integration, the formation of a single EaEU image as well as to explain the meaning of the integration processes in progress during the communication with parliamentarians and the public, promoting to the EaEU image component.”

This “gem” of “protocol” genre is written down as they say on the white with black and demonstrates the simple reality that the Russian side after all that it did in Armenia and with Armenia now is very concerned about the so-called “image.”  The assimilated the economy, make the security their own, now about the “image”.  Like in the famous Soviet film, “and where is the compote?”

It is obvious that Armenia’s recent months intensive “Eurasianization” has obtained the free fall acceleration.  The government no longer burdens itself to notify the public, and we learn what other novelty is expected to Armenia’s security by getting familiar with Putin’s decrees or slippery statements by a Russian official.  This is not followed by any response from the authorities, the “interprets” of the security issues come out to the stage and explain “legally” and “scientifically” why we should cede another big share of our sovereignty to Russia and how useful it is for us.  After this, spokesmen of some ministries will announce, “anyway, it is ours … we are to decide …”and do on, without explaining how if it is written that it is neither “ours” nor “we are to decide.”

It is also obvious that the Armenian side has lost the ability to reproach the improper proposals of Russians, it has even abandoned the function of informing by leaving it to the press services of the State Duma and Putin.  It is not hard to guess that the Russian side will continue to be guided by insatiability inherent to insatiate “muzhik” as it has not encountered a confrontation, and will take everything that is “ownerless”, moreover, will formulate it legally and will send a commando to Yerevan to obligate that Armenians shall also be concerned about their “image component” for they are also reading the leading Armenian media.

The Russian proverb is just for such cases, “Obscenity is the second happiness.”  And here, the questions addressed to Russians are over.  And what are Armenians thinking about?  How our parliamentarians intend to implement this “responsibility” to “explain” us something that is very clear without any explanation.  It was already clear for many people starting since 2010 when Russia began equipping Azerbaijan with an unprecedented volume of arms.  And over six years we were “explained” that “it is the business of our ally”, that it is even “very good that Russia is arming” because “it would be worse if not Russia but another country would have supplied with arms” and so on and so forth.  On April this year, it became clear to many more people when the weapon of the “age-old friend fired in the direction of Artsakh” while Russia kept silent until the end of the third day of the four-day war, until the Kerry-Lavrov telephone conversation by the initiative of Washington.  It is already accepted as a “passed” history like the “Koltso” operation, like the capture of Shahumyan and Martakert and donation to Baku.

And after all this, “explanation,” “image component,” and other amazing obligations … Well, explain, it would be a funny scene how it is going to “promote the EaEU image component.”  An image!  This magical word introduced from the West plays an evil joke with proletarian consciousness deformed with historical materialism and scientific communism.  Their “image component” was fatally shot in Artsakh released from Russian weapon, was scattered in the Donbass and the Crimea when they supported the policy which Europe witnessed last time before the World War II but the proletarian consciousness denies the organic connection between reality and image with the same persistence and stubbornness likewise they were considering genetics and cybernetics a “false science”.  Well, it has nothing to do with it and period.

Now, they have come to Yerevan and demand an “image”, and the government is “committed” to “explain” to us, the citizens, what the EaEU is as a “clear, stable and long-run format for the citizens and businesses in the new economic platform” and will contribute to something non-existing, dead and unburied “image component”.  The fact is that they have signed. The “age-old friendship” is nothing, “image” is everything …

… The fairy tales of Andersen were taught at the Soviet school too, where the naive child was shouting, “The King is naked.”  In Armenia, today, all of this is called by their names so far and only several media, several civic groups and experts and some politicians are reversing.
