Ara Papian.  All reasonable deadlines for ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols have been expired

November 23,2016 14:22

Ara Papian, diplomat, historian and founder of “Modus Vivendi” Center, does not think that a change has been taken place in the position of RA authorities and they are ready to raise the issue of reparation before Turkey for the Genocide.  During the international forum titled “The Armenian Genocide and the Issue of Compensation” launched at NAS, in an interview with Aravot.am, Mr. Papian reminded that in January 1915, the All-Armenian Committee also raised the issues of reparation.  “It is another question that today we should have done a great deal of work while we are still in the beginning of the way.  I would not perceive this forum as a posture of the state.  The Academy, however, is a scientific institution,” said our interlocutor adding and emphasizing that the forum is taking place today, on the Woodrow Wilson Day.

Against the background of the Armenian-Turkish protocols, whether it is not naive to speak about the issues of reparation, in response to our question, Ara Papian replied that the existence of these protocols complicates our next steps but they are not ratified and only initialed.  Ara Papian reminds President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement that within reasonable terms he will recall Armenia’s signature from these document, and reminds that all reasonable deadlines have long been expired.
