After the announcement of RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan to enroll the Republican Party, more than seven thousand citizens have expressed a desire to enroll RPA party. Aravot.am learned this from the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov. Mr. Sharmazanov said that RPA party welcomes the Prime Minister’s access to the Party. He does not share our observation that joining the Republican Party of Armenia, Karen Karapetyan downgrades his rating, also blows up the expectations of the society related to Karen Karapetyan in terms of reforms.
“The Republican Party, head of the Republican Party, President of the Republic of Armenia has introduced Karen Karapetyan in the position of Prime Minister. The political stronghold of Karen Karapetyan’s government was the Republican Party,” said our interlocutor reminding that from the very first day of Karen Karapetyan’s appointment as Prime Minister, he has repeatedly mentioned that the RPA bears such a political responsibility for Karen Karapetyan’s government as for Andranik Margaryan’s, Vazgen Sargsyan’s and Serzh Sargsyan’s government. Whether Karen Karapetyan would join the Republican Party or not, according to Eduard Sharmazanov, it is all the same, Karen Karapetyan is the key representative of the RPA political team which is headed by Serzh Sargsyan.
“It would be surprising if Karen Karapetyan had not joined the Republican Party. Karen Karapetyan’s government is the government of RPA,” adds our interlocutor reminding that when introducing Karen Karapetyan at the RPA Board session, he has said that he will also be one of the symbols of RPA reforms and amendments. Eduard Sharmazanov also noted, “Maybe there were people in other political parties who are jealous of Karen Karapetyan’s access to the RPA party, but Karen Karapetyan has given a legal shape to what existed for years. Karen Karapetyan was a member of our team since the time when he was a mayor of Yerevan city by the council list of the RPA party.”

To the question of whether Karen Karapetyan will add RPA’s rating by his rating, the NA Speaker urged not to artificially view Karen Karapetyan and the Republican Party separately, “We are together. The period of individual politicians is in the past. And as the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan noted in the previous Republican Party congress, RPA consists of specific individuals. We are all Republican Party, Karen Karapetyan as well. We are one political team headed by Serzh Sargsyan.”
