The UN Office in Armenia continues to implement projects on food, medicinal aid, lodging and jobs and social integration for Syrian-Armenians settled in Armenia. The UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Bradley Busetto, said in an interview with Aravot.am in some cases, there is a need to organize language courses for Syrian-Armenians. According to the UN official, the projects are effective as part of the Syrian-Armenians own a small business, “Coming here, they convey new energy to the society but the rental and jobs are still a serious challenge for many Syrian-Armenians. There are difficulties especially with regard to jobs.”
We inquired to know what intervention can the UN carry out for helping the refugees in the Syrian conflict zone. “The first thing that the UN is doing is calling on all parties to stop the fight and establish peace. The UN also carries out a humanitarian aid program which is unprecedented in its size and amounts to millions of dollars,” said Bradley Busetto.
